Many city residents enjoy the excellent cycling and hiking trails through the river bottoms of this park. With this summer's drought, Pickerel Lake now offers exposed shoreline and mud flats to capture the pugmarks of the muskrat, mink, raccoon, and other animals who reside in this floodplain forest. Come join us to get off the human trails and experience this park in a new way, turning the downside of this drought into an opportunity to learn even more about the resident wildlife in this place.

Muck boots recommended. Please come prepared for the weather, and wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty.

We will gather at 9 AM in the parking lot by the Visitor's Center. After a short introduction, we will split into smaller groups and head into the field. We'll return to the parking lot before wrapping up around 12 PM. You are invited to stick around until 1 PM to continue to explore animal activity in the area.
