Our hot, dry weather has been distressing in many ways, but at least one benefit to trackers is fresh exposed substrate along bodies of water. The Mississippi River water level is at the lowest point in years, resulting in large stretches of muddy and silty areas full of animal tracks! Come explore the activity of local critters and learn what they're up to in the hot summer months.
Muck boots recommended. Please come prepared for the weather, and wear clothing you don't mind getting dirty.
We will gather at 9 AM in the parking lot by the Visitor's Center. After a short introduction, we will split into smaller groups and head into the field. We'll return to the parking lot before wrapping up around 12 PM. You are invited to stick around until 1 PM to continue to explore animal activity in the area.
