North Shore of Star Island on Cass Lake
The past two weeks of warmer weather have ushered in the greenery in the north country. The trees have leafed out, and a multitude of flowering plants have the woods absolutely buzzing with pollinator activity! Since temps have been higher and rain has been minimal, we decided it would be a great time to check out the sandy north shore of Star Island on Cass Lake. The minimal human activity and sandy beaches make this part of Star Island a perfect place to observe the tracks and trails left behind by our wild neighbors. Lower water levels just make the beach that much wider. Wear shoes you don't mind wading in or getting wet, and come join us at what is typically an otter playground another exciting day of tracking!
We will meet at Sailstar Marina at 10 AM, and take a short 15 minute boat ride to the island. Bring a lifejacket if you have your own, but we will also bring extra.
