Tracking Excursion, Saturday, January 18

Marty Miller and Jonathan Poppele welcome both returning trackers and new members to our next Tracking Excursion at Ft. Snelling State Park:Saturday, January 18 9:00am - 12:00pm We will gather at the Ft. Snelling State Park visitor center:Ft. Snelling State Park101 Snelling Lake RdWest St Paul, MN 55111 Jon and Marty will facilitate an exploration of tracks, sign, and connection with wildlife on Pike Island, at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers. Pike Island boasts a dense population of white-tailed deer. We are sure to run across some interesting trails and perhaps find some deer tracks with feet still in them! We will explore tracks and sign on the island ask questions together to deepen our understanding of track and sign, gaits, and appreciation for how animals think and move through a landscape. Come join us for a morning of nature connection. You are invited to bring a bag lunch and beverage as we will have an opportunity to regroup before sharing our stories and insights from the morning's sessions. This is an all-weather event. Dress warm and be prepared for several hours outdoors.We will gather at 9:00 in the fireplace room in the Visitor Center. We will head out on the trail about 9:20. Note that you need a State Park pass to drive to the Visitor Center, but you can park for free at the Historic Fort Snelling visitor center. It is about a half-mile walk past the historic fort and down the hill to get to the State Park visitor center. The Historic Fort parking is located at 200 Tower Ave, St Paul, MN 55111
