Jonathan Poppele, Marty Miller and Donnie Phyillaier invite you to join us for our next Bird Language GatheringSunday, March 8
9:00 - 1:00
Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center
3815 American Blvd E
Bloomington, MN 55425
Please Note: Daylight Savings Time begins on March 8. Remember to set your clocks back Saturday night. We are meeting at 9:00am Central Daylight Time, which is about 8am sun time :)
Registration is encouraged, but not required. Feel free to drop by--and it would be great to know that you are coming!
Join us as we gather once again on the slopes of the Minnesota River Valley to explore what the birds are telling us about our surroundings. Last month, we got to see the concentric rings of a barred owl--and a glimpse of the owl itself. Let's find out who is prowling the woods this month. The leaves are still off the trees, offering us (and the birds) a clear view of our surroundings. Plus, we may still have a blanket of snow on the ground to help us identify any ground predators that move through during our sit.
What should I bring?
**Dress Warm** Bring what you need to be comfortable sitting still, outside on the ground for an extended period of time—perhaps as long as an hour. You will also need something to take notes on. Make sure you have a way to keep your hands warm as you take notes--we recommend some kind of hand-warmer if the temperatures dip. You do not need to have binoculars, but there is no harm in bringing a pair if you would like. Here are a few recommended and optional items to bring:
Recommended:
Note pad & pencil
Ground cloth, blanket or camp-chair
Sun protection
Poncho if it is raining
Optional:
Water bottle
Snack
Binoculars
