Post date: Nov 24, 2019 1:29:15 AM

Come join us for our next Tracking Excursion at Ft. Snelling State Park as we explore inner tracking: Sunday, December 15 9:00am - 1:00pm We will gather at the Ft. Snelling State Park visitor center: Ft. Snelling State Park 101 Snelling Lake Rd West St Paul, MN 55111 When wildlife tracking we not only learn about the intimate details of the lives of animals, we can also learn more about ourselves through "inner tracking". Many of us have found that identifying an animal species based on track or sign or keeping on the trail of a deer has as much to do with our own inner well-being and mindset as with our accumulated experience and knowledge. Before we go out in the field this month we will look at some simple approaches to keeping ourselves perceptive and curious. This is an all-weather event and we spend time off trail. Please bring appropriate footwear and dress for several hours outdoors in whatever weather we may have that day. If you like, download the iNaturalist app onto your phone to collect pictures to share with our tracking community. We will gather at 9:00 in the fireplace room in the Visitor Center and explore some approaches to inner tracking before heading out onto the landscape to look for tracks & sign.

Note that you need a State Park pass to drive to the Visitor Center, but you can park for free at the Historic Fort Snelling Visitor Center. It is about a half-mile walk past the historic fort and down the hill to get to the State Park Visitor Center. The Historic Fort parking is located at 200 Tower Ave, St Paul, MN 55111
